Our Guiding Principles

At Wild in Scotland, our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and adventurous community where everyone can confidently explore and appreciate the wild. Our values of community, inclusivity, adventure, and responsibility are the compass that guides us towards this goal. We ask all our participants and community members to embody these values in their actions and interactions.

Here are the key principles we ask all participants to uphold:

  1. Respect: Treat yourself, others, and our team with kindness and respect. We thrive on mutual appreciation.
  2. Support Our Vision: Embrace our goal of fostering a community that loves and respects the wild.
  3. Inclusivity: Foster a welcoming environment that celebrates diversity and respects individuality.
  4. Cooperation: Listen to and follow guidance from our team. Open communication is vital for safety and comfort.
  5. Punctuality: Arrive on time for your activity to ensure a smooth start and optimal experience for everyone.
  6. Welcome Everyone: Make newcomers feel welcomed and integral to our community.
  7. Respect Boundaries: Avoid any behaviour that might upset others physically, mentally, or emotionally.
  8. Sobriety: Refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, or using recreational drugs before or during any sessions.
  9. Promote Safety: Prioritise water safety and share good practices.
  10. Environment: Protect our green and blue spaces by picking up litter and taking your own litter home. Leave only footprints and ripples.
  11. Kit Care: Return all kit after use and take care of any property belonging to Wild in Scotland or fellow swimmers.
  12. Dress Appropriately: Wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions, as advised by Wild in Scotland.
  13. Buddy Up: Support fellow participants and remember, nobody should swim alone – buddy up and enjoy your swim together.
  14. Embrace the Wild and Have Fun: While rules are important for safety, we also want you to enjoy the beautiful Scottish landscape.

We kindly ask all participants to adhere to these principles during all 1-2-1 coaching sessions, group sessions, events, workshops, or adventure days. By doing so, we can ensure the best possible experience for everyone and continue to nurture a community that is inclusive, adventurous, and responsible.
